It used to take months of effort from a team of mediocre developers to kill a project with bad code. In 2026, it only takes one talented architect who believed too much in magic.

We have entered the era of “Ghost Development.” AI agents generate thousands of lines of code per second. The code looks clean, it compiles, it even passes tests. But inside, there is often no “soul”—or more accurately, it lacks a memory of the future.

Fast Food Coding: Why Projects Rot Faster

AI is a brilliant executor, but it lives in the moment. It solves the task you set now. But it doesn’t know that in three months you’ll want to implement multi-tenancy or change payment providers. As I wrote in the post about the dangerous AI student, without supervision, the machine begins to “simplify” the system to a point of non-viability.

When you feed an agent a piece of logic, it gives you the shortest path. But the shortest path in programming is almost always a dead end in the long run.

The problem isn’t bugs. The problem is “semantic garbage”:

  • Variables named “almost” correctly.
  • Functions that solve the task but violate encapsulation.
  • Hidden dependencies that AI creates simply because it was easier in a specific context.

The result? Your project turns into a “black box.” You become afraid to touch a single controller because you don’t understand why the AI decided to link it to the database that way.

The Dictator-Architect: A New Role in the Agent Era

If I used to spend time writing map() and filter(), today my main task is to be the most pedantic and suspicious tech lead in the world. The death of long-term builds occurred not because coding became easier, but because we learned to delegate the routine, keeping the role of the conductor.

In a world where the machine writes the code, you are no longer a builder. You are the supreme judge. Your job is not to “write,” but to forbid.

My rules for surviving this chaos:

  1. Schemas as a Constitution. If you don’t have strict typing (TypeScript) and input validation (Zod)—you’ve already lost. AI can “hallucinate” data structures, but it cannot bypass a Zod schema.
  2. Drizzle ORM and Explicit Relations. I use a modern tech stack (Drizzle, NestJS) because it forces me to explicitly define the database structure. AI loves implicit relations; my job is to slap its hands.
  3. Zero Trust Coding Principle. Every piece of code from a neural network is treated as a potential threat. If I can’t explain why this line is here—it’s deleted. Even if everything “works.”

The Death of the “Middle Developer”

AI has blurred the line between Junior and Middle. It seems that architecture is no longer important since “everything can be rewritten in five minutes.” This is a lie. The faster you can generate code, the more important the skeleton becomes. If the foundation is crooked, you will simply build a Leaning Tower of Pisa faster, which will collapse at the first serious update.

Bottom Line

We are no longer programmers. We are conductors of an orchestra of a thousand instruments. And if the conductor doesn’t hear a false note in the third row just because “overall the music is loud”—the orchestra is doomed.

Don’t let AI turn your project into a landfill of working junk. Be the architect who sees the system 10 moves ahead.
